Graz

Graz is the second-largest Austrian city with a population of approximately 252,852. It is situated on the Mur river in the southeast of Austria in the region of Styria and quite close to the Slovenian and Hungarian border.
The "Old Town" of Graz is one of the best-preserved city centers in Central Europe. Therefore, it was added to the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. Furthermore, Graz was sole Cultural Capital of Europe for 2003. Graz has also a long tradition as a student city: its six universities have over 44,000 students.

Storytelling and the Power of stories

Emotional art from Modellschule Graz Students of this school have produced a set of artwork to promote cycling. The powerful images can be downloaded for free and were exhibited in the City hall of Graz.

Tell stories with Video Clips FGM-AMOR, a very experienced soft mobility marketer, has produced various own video clips and collected many others. This was modelled on ample material collected in the company database and during the EMOTIONS project.

Tell stories with Comic Strips Chris Scheuer produces very popular comics and is an illustrator with a high international profile (he worked also in CIVITAS and has illustrated the title page of this proposal). He has produced illustrations and a poster that can be downloaded free of charge.


A Storytelling Competition carried out by FGM has produced many emotional stories about sustainable transport. The best of them were published as a book for passengers of the Styrian transport association. In total 17.000 copies were distributed. The winning stories, as well as a story especially written by Andreas Altman for the Trendy Travel Literature Contest, have been translated into English and are available on the website as well as on the TRENDY TRAVEL audio book
Raising the image of cycling
A Brochure called "20 good reasons for cycling" was produced by FGM and translated in all partner languages.

The Bicycle Climate Test and Guidelines on how to use it as a tool to test the satisfaction of cyclists in a town or region was provided and translated in all partner languages

Pleasing the eye
Modellschule Graz and FGM-AMOR were responsible for providing visuals like signage, pictures, paintings, graphics etc.

FGM-AMOR has been internationally active in many EU-projects and has developed range of emotional photographs that are available for download on the website.
